Registration and login are required to submit items online and to check the status of current submissions.

 

Author Guidelines

  • The manuscript should be original and not published previously. Please do not submit paper that is currently being considered by another journal.
  • All articles should be written in proficient English. American spelling and punctuation are to be used.
  • The manuscript should be prepared in MS Word format (Times New Roman 14; 1, 5 spaced) and submitted to kmj@ukma.edu.ua
  • The article should be 4,000 - 10,000 words in length, or longer if approved by the Editor-in-Chief. The book reviews should not be longer than 2, 000 words.
  • The article should contain 1. name(s) of the author(s) (first name and last name), their affiliation; 2. an informative title, not more than 15 words; 3. an informative and well-structured  abstract (about 100-200 words); 4. 5-7 keywords; 5. body of the article; 6. bibliography; 7. short bio; 8. aknowledgements (if necessary).
  • If necessary, tables, footnotes, appendixes, photos in electronic form (of appropriate quality) should be included in the article. Please attach them as a separate file as well.
  • Preparing the bibliography, please use the Chicago bibliographic system for citations, notes and bibliography (!!!), not author-date (consult Chicago Manual of Style for details): http://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/tools_citationguide.html
  • All references should be in Roman script. All Ukrainian and Russian titles should be translated into English. If you make reference to the article in a Ukrainian or Russian journal, please use the translation found in the journal’s content.
  • The article can be divided into several subsections (e. g. introduction, theoretical framework, main subsections, conclusion(s)).
  • Section headings should be highlighted in bold without a full stop at the end.
  • All persons who have a reasonable claim to authorship must be named in the manuscript as co-authors of the article.
  • All acknowledgements (e.g. funding sources, names of contributors who did not grant an authorship but made a significant contribution to the article) should be listed in the end of the manuscript.
  • All words in Slavic languages should be transliterated from Cyrillic according to this system: http://zakon4.rada.gov.ua/laws/show/55-2010-%D0%BF
  • Omit diacritics; do not use a straight single quote (‘) to indicate the soft sign (ь). 
  • Dates.  Follow the scheme: October 2, 1999; 1936–1938 (use n-dash between numbers); 1930s. The 2-letter endings of ordinal numbers should not be written in ordinary print (e.g., 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc.).
  • Place names. Should be spelled in the English version (e.g. Moscow not Moskva) in the text of the article as well as in the footnotes. For more details, consult the Webster’s (e.g. Kyiv, Warsaw, Moscow, Belgrade).
  • Foreign words should be italicized (e.g. kordon, Vagabond). Emphases should be italicized as well.
  • Omit full stops in abbreviations (e.g. PhD, USSR, USA).
  • Quotations. All quotations should be translated in English. Near the quotation please provide transliteration of the material quoted. Cyrillic is not to be used.
  • Titles of Ukrainian or Russian works should be transliterated without capitalization. The first time one is given it should be accompanied in brackets by its standard English rendering, e.g.: Perverziia (Perversion).
  • Figures. Please, make sure that all scanned material is scanned at the appropriate resolution: 1200 dpi for line art, 600 dpi for gray scale, and 300 dpi for colour. Please do not attach them as a separate file. All figures should be numbered in the order in which they appear in the manuscript (e.g. Figure 1, Figure 2). In multi-part figures, each part should be labelled (e.g. Figure 1(a), Figure 1(b)).

 

Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  1. The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  2. The submission file is in Microsoft Word  document file format.
  3. Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  4. The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines, which is found in About the Journal.
 

Copyright Notice

Kyiv-Mohyla Law and Politics Journal provides free access to original research without restriction barriers (i.e. subscription fees, licensing fees etc.). The journal allows re-use of content for non-commercial/educational purposes indexing the source.
